I think you hit on the key points croks. Most of the guys around here prefer PE, particularly because of the colder water in the winter.
I like a stiffer board, possibly because I am heavier at 190 lbs and need all the speed help I can get.

hey guys - welcome to the forum!
Have any pics of Georgia or FL bodyboarding? We'd love to post them. Speaking of GA, I'll be in ATL next week. A little too far from the beach though to meet for a session unfortunately

Hey, maybe we can meet up this summer. I have to figure out when I can go and ask off work ahead of time.
BTW, I haven't been to St. Simmons very much, and it's been a long time. It is a little closer for me than the others though. How does it compare to Fernandina or JAX?

I'm from southern GA. And I try to go to fernandina every chance I get, especially in the summer. I've been trying to figure out when I can get off work for a day or 2 real soon.
Which one is your home breaK?

Hey everyone! This is my first post here, but I've read a LOT on here.
Anyway, I've been body boarding every time I can go to the beach for most of my life. I live about 2 and a half hours away from Jacksonville Florida, so that is where I usually go. I've started going even more often now, and am timing my visits with swells so I can try riding larger waves. I'm still using the morey boogie I got when I was a kid. It's probably about 15 years old. lol So I"m gonna get a new one this year, and need help selecting the right one. I really don't want to spend a TON of money on something that isn't necessary, but I DO want to get a decent board. I don't even know where to start. What's the best brand? I've read that there are boards that are better for cold, or for hot weather etc. Drop knee, prone, combo. All that stuff has me confused. And a size chart I found said I should go for a 42.5. Is that right? Also, what are the pros/cons of crescent or bat tail? I'm 33 years old, 6'2 about 165-170 lbs. I've mostly ridden prone, but want to try drop knee and some tricks. Basically I just want a good quality all around board. I've been looking/considering at the following: NMD stox storm NMD stox switch Morey mach 9tr empire fluid empire HD Arcel turbo shock monkey

Hey Mike - great to meet you and welcome to ECBB!
Where in Oz and SoCal have you been? For boots, you're going to want to go thick and get a pair of finds that work. I'm not sure of the temp for gloves up there, but I'd probably go thick too. On suit, it depends. I would think you'd want to go with a full 6 mil. Tell your friends to join the forum! --- Nash
